Sweet Auburn District — In the fifties, it was called “the richest Negro street in the world.” A self-tour of the street includes Atlanta Life insurance company, the Big Bethel AME Church (founded in 1847), the Martin Luther King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and the Top Hat/Royal Peacock.
